7/7/1952

I had a meaning to post this yesterday but somehow just couldn't bring myself to remember it at all since it was months in advance when I had started planning this (originally trying to help out a fellow search for some comic strips I couldn't find of his father's work. Anyway, here's what transpired in the newspapers of America 60 years (and a day) ago...

One of these days I'll have to get a new scanner if I can secure some needed funds for it!

Nancy used to be reprinted in a British comic called The Topper back in the 1960s. Could even have been appearing since the '50s, which is when the comic first came out.

Well Nancy started in the 1930's herself (though the strip itself started a decade before involving Nancy's aunt, Fritzi Ritz). The strip continues to this day, though Nancy has appeared in a few other places over the years like comic books.

I often think the best Nancy strips I liked were the ones drawn by Jerry Scott who had his way with redesigning the characters that certainly updated their look far from the Ernie Bushmiller creation.

Cool seeing that old Beetle Bailey strip, Mort Walker is a hero of mine.

Loved the JR Williams one too!
